Fractional CISO

Part-time security leadership. Someone who owns your security plan, answers to you, and costs a fraction of a full-time executive.

CISO stands for Chief Information Security Officer: the person in charge of protecting a company’s data and systems. Large companies have one on staff. Most small and mid-sized businesses don’t need a full-time executive, but they still need someone who owns security decisions.

As your fractional CISO, I’m that person, for the part of the week you need. I’ve done this job from the inside: I was the only senior security person at a regulated insurance company, reporting to leadership and answering to regulators. I bring that same accountability to your business.

What a typical month looks like#

  • Keeping your security plan on track and adjusting priorities as things change
  • Answering security questionnaires from customers and partners
  • Reviewing new vendors and software before you sign
  • Running practice drills, so your team knows what to do if something goes wrong
  • Reporting to you or your board in plain English: what’s improved, what’s left, and what it costs

I work alongside your IT team or outside IT provider, not in place of them.

How it works

  1. 1

    Get to know your business

A short review of where you stand today and what your customers, partners, and regulators expect.

  2. 2

    Build the plan

A 12-month security plan with clear owners, milestones, and a budget that makes sense.

  3. 3

    Lead it with you

A set amount of my time each month to keep the plan moving, answer questions, and handle what comes up.
