IT Consulting

Find out whether you're getting full value from your IT team, your systems, and your outside providers, and whether problems get solved quickly.

Most business owners can’t easily tell whether their IT is doing a good job. They only hear about it when something breaks, and they get a bill either way.

I give you an independent, experienced view. I’ve been the entire IT department for a five-person office, supported more than 40 businesses at a managed IT provider, and run security and infrastructure for a regulated insurance company. I know what good IT looks like at every size, and what it should cost.

Questions I’ll answer for you#

  • Are you getting value for what you spend? Licenses, hardware, support contracts, and the services you pay for but don’t use.
  • Do problems get solved quickly? Or do requests sit, and the same issues keep coming back?
  • Are proven best practices in place? Tested backups, regular updates, sensible access controls, and up-to-date documentation.
  • Are your outside providers delivering? Whether vendors meet their commitments and work well with your team and with each other.
  • Does your team have what it needs? The skills, tools, time, and support to do their jobs well.

This isn’t an audit designed to catch anyone out. In-house IT people are usually stretched thin and doing their best. My goal is to help them succeed, and to show you where your investment will make the biggest difference.

If the review shows your vendors and team need ongoing coordination, see Vendor & IT Team Oversight.

How it works

  1. 1

    Listen to the business

What works, what frustrates people, and what technology needs to do for the business over the next few years.

  2. 2

    Review your team and systems

How IT is organized, how requests are handled and how quickly, and how your systems are set up and maintained.

  3. 3

    Review your outside providers

Contracts, service levels, and invoices compared with what is actually being delivered.

  4. 4

    Report and plan

A clear, fair picture of where you stand and a practical plan to get more value from what you're already paying for.

Security Assessment

Find out where your business is exposed, what to fix first, and what it will take. All in plain English.

Fractional CISO

Part-time security leadership. Someone who owns your security plan, answers to you, and costs a fraction of a full-time executive.

Security & IT Architecture

Hands-on design and build work for your network, systems, and security. Done right the first time, and documented so your team can run it.
